I’ve been meaning to build a website of projects and classes for at least 20 years, and have finally turned thought into action.
My interest in all things medieval started as a student in 1980. Since then, my knowledge, skills and interests have expanded into way too many areas. Decades on, I still get a thrill out of researching, making and teaching.
During Covid, I started teaching online – I loved it, but found I was constantly emailing class notes. I needed to find a more efficient approach…. The website became my largest project to date.
You’ll find this site is rich in early 16th century German and Headwear, with side excursions into everything from puppets to pavilions. Historical context and research are important to me, so that’s how my projects start.
Some of these projects go back a long way, as you can see from the dates! I’ve added additional research and noted what I would do differently these days, to provide some context.
I hope you find these pages interesting and useful in making your own projects. If so, I’d love to hear about it (and please reference this website!).
I live in Canberra, Australia. I was a founding member of the SCA Kingdom of Lochac, where I am known as Mistress Rowan Perigrynne – hence the website name.
